Falcons Football Team Advances Setting Up Rematch With Spirit Lake

Beckett DeJean ran for two long touchdowns and passed for two others helping OA-BCIG pick up a 34-22 win at Osage Friday night in the 2nd round of the class 2A playoffs.

DeJean’s 72 yard TD run in the 2nd quarter gave the Falcons their first lead of the game and his 56 yard scamper sealed the victory late in the 4th quarter. OA-BCIG trailed after the first quarter 7-0 but they would tie it when DeJean found Josh Peters for a 13-yard TD. The Green Devils got a safety when they tackled Griffin Diersen in the end zone with ten seconds left in the first half and the score was 13-9 Falcons at the break.

Osage took advantage of a Falcons turnover setting them up with a short field and they would score to take a 16-13 lead, it would be their last lead of the game.

DeJean then connected with Treyten Kolar on a 35 yard TD pass to take the lead back. Peters would then get a key interception to set up the Falcons at the Osage 20 yard line and four plays later Diersen ran it in from eight yards out and the Falcons led 27-16 with seven minutes to play. Osage scored on the ensuing possession to pull within 27-22, their two-point conversion failed. The Green Devils attempted an onside kick but it was recovered by Andrew Parks. On the next play from scrimmage DeJean scored on a 56 yard TD run to put the game away.

Osage finished the year 7-3. The Falcons are now 9-1 and will play at Spirit Lake Friday night. The Indians are 10-0 and own a win over OA-BCIG already this year as they won the regular season meeting 28-13 back on September 23rd.
