Ridge View Clinches Playoff Spot

Ridge View earned a spot in the Class 1A playoffs with a 28-7 win over Sibley Ocheyedan in Holstein.

The Raptors led 22-0 at halftime. The first score occurred on a mishandled pitch play in Sibley Ocheyedan’s end zone which resulted in a safety. Ridge View got a short field on the ensuing possession at the opponent’s 45 yard line. Seven plays later on 4th and goal, Kolton Luscombe scored on a two yard run, and Owen Worthan’s point after made it 9-0.

A fumble on the next series was scooped up by Tracin Price, who took it 66 yards for a touchdown to boost the lead to 16-0 early in the 2nd quarter. A high snap on a punt attempt on the following possession gave the Raptors the ball at the Sibley five yard line. Two plays later, Austin Pyle scored on a two yard run.

Ridge View extended the lead after a muffed punt in the 4th quarter, as Jake Breyfogle threw a nine yard touchdown to Price. The Generals scored on a 16 yard touchdown pass with under a minute left.

There were 20 penalties in the game. Ridge View won despite being outgained 213 yards to 124. The Raptors finish the regular season at 4-4 overall, and 2-3 in 1A District 1, and the drop Sibley Ocheyedan to 1-7, 0-5. Ridge View will be on the road for a 1st round playoff game next Friday, which will be broadcast on Mix 101.7FM.
