Ridge View Football Wins Homecoming Game

Ridge View scored 22 unanswered points to end the game in their 29-15 win over Sioux Central in Holstein.

After a Sioux Central three and out to start the game, an eight play, 51 yard drive put the Raptors on the board first, as Jake Breyfogle’s four yard run and Owen Worthan’s point after made it 7-0. The Rebels answered with a banner drive that lasted 18 plays, 80 yard, and chewed ten minutes off the clock. Max Adams scored on an 11 yard run, and Kaben Morrow’s two point run gave Sioux Central an 8-7 lead.

Following a Ridge View three and out, their punt was mishandled which gave Sioux Central the ball at the Raptors 25 yard line. The Rebels scored on an eight play drive, as a one yard touchdown run by Adams, and Ethan Mills extra point made it 15-7 with 3:34 left in the 1st half. Ridge View responded with a ten play 80 yard drive. Jake Breyfogle’s 18 yard touchdown run, and then two point pass to Tracin Price tied the score at 15-15, and that’s how it stood at halftime.

Ridge View took the opening drive of the 2nd half 68 yards to the end zone in six plays, as a ten yard run by Kolton Luscombe and point after gave the Raptors the lead 22-15. That was followed by four consecutive three and outs. Sioux Central drove inside the Raptors ten yard line, but turned the ball over on downs with 10:27 remaining in the 4th quarter. Ridge View proceeded to drive deep to the other end of the field and took nearly eight minutes off the clock, but lost a fumble at the Sioux Central two yard line. The Rebels took over there with 2:39 remaining, but on the third play of the drive, a fumble in the end zone was recovered by Luscombe for the game clinching touchdown.

Breyfogle had 20 carries for 140 yards. For the Rebels, Adams rushed 28 times for 92 yards, and Morrow completed five of six passes for 80 yards.

Ridge View is now 3-2 overall, and 1-1 in 1A District 1. They host West Sioux next week.

Sioux Central goes to 2-3, 1-1. They visit Emmetsburg next week.
