The Lake City Administrator, along with two former police officers in the city, have received multiple charges following an investigation by the Iowa Attorney General’s Office.
Lake City Administrator Eric Wood, and former Lake City Police Officers Anthony Snyder and Aaron Alspach, were all arrested on Wednesday. Charges include multiple felonies, as well as felonious misconduct in office. Wood was also charged with preventing apprehension or obstruction of prosecution, two counts of suborning perjury, and two counts of perjury. Snyder and Alspach were also charged with perjury.
The charges stem from allegations that the three men provided fraudulent information to obtain certification from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy while Snyder and Alspach were employed by the department in 2020 and 2021. Alspach’s employment with the police department was terminated after he repeatedly failed to attend the academy. Snyder left the Lake City PD earlier this year after he accepted a position with another police department.
Wood, Snyder, and Alspach have all been released from the Carroll County Jail after posting bond. Wood was held on a 20-thousand dollar bond. The bond for Alspach and Snyder was ten-thousand dollars each.
An arraignment hearing for all three men is scheduled October 3rd at the Calhoun County Courthouse in Rockwell City.
