Curlew Man Arrested for Theft of Railroad Materials

A Curlew man has been charged for stealing railroad materials from multiple Pocahontas County communities.

The Union Pacific Railroad on June 12th reported to the Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Office that railroad materials had been stolen from Rolfe, Gilmore City, and Mallard. Following a lengthy investigation, arrest warrants were issued for 56-year-old Shayne Brodersen. He was charged with 2nd Degree Theft, a class D felony.

Last Monday, August 8th, the sheriff’s office executed a search warrant at Brodersen’s residence in rural Curlew. Items were seized as evidence, and he was also arrested on a valid Pocahontas County warrant that stemmed from the investigation.

Brodersen was booked into the Pocahontas County Jail. The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.
