Animal Cruelty Complaint in Storm Lake Leads to Removal of Several Animals from Residence

Several animals were removed from a Storm Lake residence last week after a search warrant was executed regarding an animal cruelty complaint.

According to information released by the Storm Lake Police Department, police officers as well as a fire fighter with the Storm Lake Fire Department executed the search warrant at a residence on North Michigan Street last Friday. Officers captured and removed 50 cats and two dogs from the home, and they were taken to Lake Animal Hospital for evaluation and treatment. A few of the cats were said to be quite ill. Some of the cats had to be euthanized due to illness and disease.

Storm Lake Police encourages citizens to report anyone that is abusing animals.
