Storm Lake Softball Bats Boom in Win at Cherokee

Storm Lake had 14 hits, six of them for extra bases, and scored a season-high in runs as they romped 13-0 at Cherokee on Monday.

Taylor Ripke had a banner night, going 4-5 with six RBI’s, including a three-run homerun in the 7th, her 4th of the year. Abby Bodholdt also hit her first homer of the year in the 7th, a two-run shot. Josie Hernandez had four hits and two RBI’s. Nine of Storm Lake’s runs came during the last three innings.

Avery DeHaan shutout the Braves for the 2nd time this year, throwing a five-hitter with seven strikeouts.

Storm Lake is now 12-13 on the season, dropping Cherokee to 3-18. The Tornadoes play at Hinton tomorrow (Tues), and play their regular season finale at home Wednesday against Estherville Lincoln Central.
