Storm Lake Man Arrested for Trying to Forge a Check

A Storm Lake man has been arrested after being accused of attempting to forge a check earlier this month.

Back on June 13th, the Storm Lake Police Department was called on a report that someone had attempted to pass a forged check of approximately 500-dollars at El Mexicano II on North Lake Avenue. 21-year-old Mach Nyaw tried to pass the fraudulent check, which was ultimately denied by the business owner. Nyaw fled the scene prior to the arrival of officers, and he was not located at that time.

Authorities subsequently obtained an arrest warrant for Nyaw, who was located in Clay County this past Saturday. Nyaw was taken into custody on the Buena Vista County warrant. He was held in the Clay County Jail on a five-thousand dollar bond, awaiting extradition back to Storm Lake.
