Storm Lake Softball Gets Walk-Off Win over Sioux Central

Maddy Raveling’s single with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the 7th lifted the Storm Lake softball team to a 9-8 win over Sioux Central.

Sioux Central rallied for two runs to tie the game at 8 in the top of the 7th. Preslie Peterson began the inning with a walk. Following a strikeout and a groundout, Morgan Christian had an RBI double, Halle Laursen walked, and Kendra Casey hit a grounder that got into left field that scored Christian to tie the game.

Cole Richardson walked to start the bottom of the 7th. After a strikeout, Avery DeHaan reached on a error, and then a wild pitch moved the runners to 2nd and 3rd. MacKenzie Harder was then walked intentionally, to set up Raveling’s heroics.

Casey and Peterson each had four hits for the Rebels, and Berkley Johannsen had two RBI’s.

Josie Hernandez, Taylor Ripke, and Hailey Anderson all had RBI hits for the Tornadoes. Lillie Hoffman pitched the final 2 2/3 innings for Storm Lake.

The Tornadoes are now 9-7 on the season. The Storm Lake teams play at Spencer tomorrow (Fri). The varsity BASEBALL game at 7pm will be broadcast on Mix 101.7FM, and video streamed on our website.

Sioux Central (9-10) hosts Pocahontas Area tomorrow.
