Three Arrested on Drug Charges Following Clay County Traffic Stop

Three drug-related arrests were made in Clay County last Thursday evening.

According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy conducted a traffic stop in the 4800 mile of Highway 71. An odor of marijuana was allegedly omitting from the vehicle, and drug paraphernalia and marijuana were discovered. Following a search, more marijuana and drug paraphernalia were located.

The driver of the vehicle, Jackeline Mejia-Lorenzo, was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Marijuana, a serious misdemeanor…and Speeding, No Drivers License, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Interference With Official Acts, all simple misdemeanors. Two passengers, Edwin Rodriguez-Morales and Uriel Ontiveros-Monarrez, were each charged with Minor in Possession of Tobacco and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, both simple misdemeanors…along with Possession of a Controlled Substance Marijuana.

All three were booked into the Clay County Jail on one-thousand dollar bonds.
