USDA Crop Progress Report

Row crop planting in Iowa was virtually completed last week, according to the latest USDA Crop Progress Report

There were reports of some producers needing to replant corn or soybeans due to recent weather issues.

In northwest Iowa, 98-percent of corn is emerged, compared to 95-percent statewide. Corn emergence in Iowa is one week behind last year, but one day ahead of the five-year average. Iowa’s corn condition rated 86-percent good to excellent.

93-percent of northwest Iowa soybeans have emerged, compared to 84-percent statewide. Soybeans emerged in Iowa are one week behind last year, but two days ahead of average. Iowa’s soybean condition rated 82-percent good to excellent.

There were 4.5 days suitable for fieldwork in northwest Iowa last week, compared to slightly under four days statewide.
