BV County Emergency Management Coordinator Talks Weather, Damage That Occurred Last Night

Buena Vista County Emergency Management Coordinator Aimee Barritt says the BV Sheriff's Office sent deputies to storm-spot on Thursday night.

Local authorities were receiving reports of a tornado that touched down near Sulpher Springs. However, Barritt says a tornado apparently never did touch down...(audio clip below  :10 )

According to the National Weather Service office out of Sioux Falls, as of 4pm today (Fri), the only confirmed tornado in northwest Iowa last night was just south of Sioux City near Sergeant Bluff.

There were peak wind gusts of around 60-miles-per-hour in the Storm Lake area on Thursday. The highest reported wind gust in Iowa from Thursday was in Larchwood at 87-miles-per-hour.
