Storm Lake Woman Sentenced to Prison on Forgery Charges After Probation Revoked

April 20, 2022 9:23am

A Storm Lake woman who has been involved in multiple forgery incidents has been sentenced in Buena Vista County District Court to serve up to five years in prison after her probation was revoked.

32-year-old Nashley Craig was previously sentenced to three years of probation with the Iowa Department of Corrections in February of 2021 after she pleaded guilty to three counts of Forgery, and 2nd Degree Theft, all class D felonies. The sentence was tied to Craig forging several checks around the area. Craig forged a 200-dollar check at the Storm Lake Walmart in late 2019.

A probation revocation was initiated due to the number of rule violations. In early April of this year, there was an admission of violations and consent to revoke her probation, and Craig's original sentences were imposed.

Craig's prison sentence will run concurrently with cases in Ida, Clay, and O'Brien counties.

In late December of last year, Craig was arrested after being accused of passing multiple forged checks totaling approximately 500-dollars at the Dyno's gas station and The Brew in Storm Lake in September of last year. Earlier last December, Craig was arrested in Clay County on charges of Forgery and 4th Degree Theft.
