Slushy Road Results in Fatality in Sac County

Slick road conditions led to the death of a Kansas woman in a two-vehicle accident in Sac County.
According to Sac County Sheriff Ken McClure, the accident happened shortly after 10:20 this (Mon) morning just south of Odebolt on Highway 39, about a half-mile south of 340th Street. 54-year-old Jan Gentry of Shawnee, Kansas was driving south on Highway 39 when she lost control of her vehicle on the slush-covered roadway. Gentry's vehicle struck a northbound vehicle that was being driven by 19-year-old Clay Roberts of Dunlap.
Gentry was pronounced dead at the scene. Roberts was transported to the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Sac County Sheriff's Office, Odebolt Fire and Rescue, Sac County EMS, and Sac County Medical Examiner all responded to the scene. The crash is being investigated by the Iowa State Patrol.
