Area Projects Receiving Empower Rural Iowa Initiative Grant Funding

A few projects in the area are among those receiving grant funding through Governor Reynolds' Empower Rural Iowa Initiative.

The Sac Development Corporation is receiving a 2022 Rural Innovation Grant of 20-thousand dollars that will go toward a feasibility study for a soon-to-be vacated school building and adjacent green space in Sac City.

The City of Lake View is another recipient of a 20-thousand dollar Rural Innovation Grant, which will go toward developing a community center.

The Pocahontas Chamber of Commerce is getting a one-thousand dollar Rural Innovation Grant that will help launch a series of professional presentations and workshops that focus on workforce recruitment, retention, and culture.

The Pocahontas County Board of Supervisors are receiving a 20-thousand dollar Rural Return Grant for the development of an alumni registry and chamber membership incentive for new residents.

In all, over 500-thousand dollars in grant funding are being awarded to rural communities. The grants cover 38 projects across the state.
