Positive COVID Tests Surging ; More Hospitalizations

There have been 349 positive COVID tests in Buena Vista County over the last seven days, according to the latest information provided today (Wed) by the Iowa Department of Public Health.

37-percent of COVID tests in BV County over the last week came back positive. In the eight counties that surround BV, there have been nearly 11-hundred positive tests in that span.

Iowa's seven-day moving average of daily cases on Monday was 5,440, breaking the previous high of over 46-hundred in November of 2020.

There's been another increase in Iowa COVID hospitalizations, with the number now at 991. That's nearly a seven-percent increase from last Wednesday.  COVID hospitalizations in the state went over one-thousand on Monday.

Over 18-percent of COVID hospitalizations in Iowa are in intensive care. 72-percent of COVID patients in ICU are not fully vaccinated.

There have been 116 more COVID-related deaths in Iowa, putting the total over 83-hundred. The number of COVID deaths in Buena Vista County remains at 50.

Nearly 60-percent of eligible Iowans are fully vaccinated, according to the CDC. Close to 65-percent of BV County residents are fully vaccinated.
