Man Wanted in Clay County Charged for Possession of Controlled Substance in Jail

A Milford man wanted on multiple active warrants was charged for introducing a controlled substance into the Clay County correctional facility following his arrest.

According to the Clay County Sheriff's Office, 26-year-old Jacob Wegner was arrested around 2:30 this (Tues) morning by Emmet County authorities. Wegner was wanted for four active Clay County warrants, including 2nd Offense OWI...Driving While Suspended/Revoked...Violation of Restricted License...and Failure to Provide Proof of Financial Liability. Wegner was transferred to Clay County authorities, and was subsequently booked into the Clay County Jail.

During a search of Wegner's person, it was determined that he had smuggled a controlled substance into the jail. Wegner was subsequently charged with Introducing a Controlled Substance into a Correctional Facility, a class D felony. He is currently awaiting his initial appearance before a magistrate.
