Pocahontas County Residents Injured in Two-Vehicle Accident

Two Pocahontas County residents were injured in a two-vehicle accident in Humboldt County.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident occurred around 11:15 this (Wed) morning just west of Humboldt. 21-year-old Gage Pederson of Rolfe was driving a 2010 Pontiac G6. He was stopped at a stop sign at 230th Street, and pulled out onto Iowa Avenue attempting to make a left hand turn, but failed to yield. Pederson's vehicle collided with a 1997 Honda Accord driven by 44-year-old Malea Brown of Pocahontas. Brown's vehicle entered a ditch and collided with a tree.

Brown wasn't wearing a seat belt, was airlifted to an unknown hospital. Pederson, who was wearing a seat belt, was transported to the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. The accident remains under investigation.
