BVU and Alta Aurelia Enter into Strategic Partnership

January 12, 2022 10:41am

Buena Vista University and the Alta-Aurelia Community School District have entered a Strategic Partnership, investing in their communities and those who serve students.

This partnership allows for employees of Alta-Aurelia CSD, as well as eligible family members of full-time employees, to receive grant funding to lower the overall cost of education while enrolled in classes at BVU’s Storm Lake campus. Partner grant funding also lowers the cost per credit hour for students enrolled in BVU’s convenient online/hybrid undergraduate programs or the organizational leadership graduate program.

BVU professors and staff are also available for training programs, workshops, and more should officials with Alta-Aurelia CSD seek those services and expertise.

“A Strategic Partnership with BVU provides a great opportunity for our staff and their family members to access post-secondary education,” says Alta-Aurelia CSD Superintendent Bill Walters. “We want our educators to be good role models, and this partnership creates opportunities for them to do so, locally or online.”

The Alta-Aurelia CSD has approximately 130 employees serving 750 students in grades PK-12. The district consists of a high school in Alta, a middle school in Aurelia, and an elementary school located in both communities.

“We are already closely connected to BVU as nearly one-third of our staff have graduated from the University,” says Walters.

“We are excited to partner with Alta-Aurelia Community School District, a school system close to Storm Lake that does an excellent job of educating students,” says BVU Director of Strategic Partnerships Laura Todd. “BVU aims to provide educational benefits that open opportunities for individuals, helping them to make an even greater impact in their communities.”
