Iowa Department of Education Director Stops in Storm Lake to Learn About Charter School

Iowa Department of Education Director Dr. Ann Lebo made several stops in Storm Lake on Monday to learn how the local Charter School is preparing students with the skills and knowledge they need to fill a variety of in-demand jobs after graduation...(audio clip below  :16  )

Dr. Lebo began with a visit to the Iowa Central Community College training center in north Storm Lake that opened last August. Storm Lake High School graduate Eric Munoz went through the charter program to earn a welding diploma, and is now a welding trainer at the training center connected to the Tyson Foods 1 + 2 program...(audio clip below  :17 )

Dr. Lebo's tour also included a stop at The Bridge of Storm Lake, where Izzie Ramos works as a youth advocate. Ramos graduated from the Charter School in 2018...(audio clip below  :24 )

Storm Lake High School students that participate in the Charter School get access to Iowa Central Community College career programs with no cost for tuition and books.
