Fast start pushes Panther teams to road sweep of Whiting

Both Panther teams used fast starts to pick up road wins over Whiting, the girls winning 61-20 and the boys winning 72-23

The Panther girls jumped out to a 15-0 lead in the opening quarter. The first Whiting field goal was converted with 2:27 to go in the first to cut the lead to 15-2. The Panthers would go on a 9-0 run to lead 24-2 after one.

The second saw the Panthers extend the lead to 29-2 in the second. The teams would trade buckets to a 32-7 Panther lead with 4:20 to go in the half. The Panthers would close out the half on a 13-2 run to give the Panthers a 45-9 lead at the break.

One basket into the second half the Panthers had a running clock and would outscore the Warriors 16-11 to win 61-20. The Panthers improved to 8-0, and the Warriors fell to 3-5


The Panther boys also flew out to a big lead early. The scored the first 13 points of the game to lead 13-0. And after a Whiting made free throw, the Panthers would add 9-0 run to lead 22-1 after one.

The Panthers would add two quick basket in the second to lead 26-1. Whiting would make a field goal with 5:08 to go in the half to cut the Panther lead to 26-3. The Panthers would roll into the second half on a 18-2 run to lead 44-5 at the break.

The second half saw the Panthers get running clock and would finish the game on a 28-19 run to defeat the Warriors 72-23.

With the win the Panthers improved to 3-5, while the Warriors fell to 0-7.
