BV Emergency Management Coordinator Talks Storm Damage from Last Night

Buena Vista County Emergency Management Coordinator Aimee Barritt says damage from Wednesday's storm mostly consisted of downed tree limbs in communities within the county.

Barritt says the City of Rembrandt is without power, which is expected to be restored by early to mid-afternoon. The fire station is being made available as a warming shelter. There are also reports of several machine sheds and farm buildings that have been destroyed by the high winds...(audio clip below  :12 )

Barritt is also assisting with Emergency Management for Cherokee County, and says damage to the City of Aurelia is significant...(audio clip below  :10 )

Barritt says Cherokee County was set to do a damage assessment in Aurelia this morning. It was difficult to do a good assessment last night because it was dark and wind gusts were still high.

Power was restored in Aurelia last night.
