Aurelia Storm Cleanup Getting Started ; Volunteers Encouraged to Help

December 16, 2021 11:22am

Cleanup efforts are underway in the City of Aurelia following yesterday's (Wed) storm.

The City has been getting several calls from volunteers that are offering their services. At this time, Aurelia does not have a list of residents that are in need. The City advises those interested to simply find someone in need and offer to help.

Volunteers are being asked to check in at the Aurelia City Hall. This will allow the City to track volunteer hours and equipment used. During cleanup, volunteers are asked to keep trees and construction debris separate.

Aurelia is focusing on tree and branch cleanup today. Trees and branches should be placed along the curb. If possible, cut in manageable six-foot sections. If hauling trees and branches yourself, take them to the yard waste site and use the West 3rd Street entrance.

Dumpsters will eventually be placed at the Aurelia Community Center parking lot, bus barns, and east parking area at the school. The dumpsters will be for construction debris.

Residents and volunteers are encouraged to stop by the Aurelia Community Center, as food and water will soon be available there.
