The Storm Lake Hy-Noon Kiwanis has presented a number of local donations in recent weeks to help support the community and benefit its families and children.

During the November 15th meeting, Hy-Noon Kiwanis president Steven Phelps presented a 500-dollar check to Santa's Castle to go toward supporting its annual operation. Santa's Castle Director Melissa Pearson and Santa's Castle Board President Ron Hott were on hand to receive the check.

A week later, Phelps presented a 200-dollar check to Storm Lake St. Mary's Elementary School Principal Kate Swanson to go towards supporting the reading and literacy programs at the school.

Today (Mon), the Kiwanis presented a 12-hundred dollar check to Storm Lake Community Education Director Joe Kucera. One-thousand dollars of the total is given in support of the youth rec programs throughout the community, with the final 200-dollars going towards Project Engage to help fund annual scholarships for students in the community.

Hy-Noon Kiwanis celebrated its 100th birthday this past spring. The club raises over 20-thousand dollars each year through various fundraising projects. The money raised is invested back into the community to support many youth endeavors.
