Iowa Finance Authority Awards Grants to Several Area Local Housing Trust Funds

The Iowa Finance Authority Board of Directors has awarded a total of more than nine-million dollars in grants to 27 Local Housing Trust Funds to support local housing initiatives.

The Northwest Iowa Regional Housing Trust Fund is receiving over 390-thousand dollars. They serve counties including Buena Vista, Clay, and O'Brien.

The Homeward Housing Trust Fund is receiving over 369-thousand dollars. They serve counties including Pocahontas, Calhoun, and Palo Alto.

The Council of Governments Housing, which serves Sac County, is getting more than 307-thousand dollars.

The Western Iowa Community Improvement Regional Housing Trust Fund is getting more than 304-thousand dollars. The counties they service include Cherokee and Ida.

The grant awards are made available through the Local Housing Trust Fund program, and are expected to assist more than 21-hundred families. The grant funds will be used for initiatives such as preserving aging housing stock, subsidizing local rental and down payment assistance programs, providing low-interest loans or grants to assist Iowans with home rehabilitation, financing construction of new single-family housing for low-income Iowans and supporting housing for persons with disabilities and homeless assistance programs.
