Public Meetings Coming Up in Area Counties Regarding Proposed Carbon Pipeline

The Iowa Utilities Board recently approved a series of public information meetings to inform landowners in 36 counties about a proposed large-scale carbon pipeline.

The Midwest-based Navigator Heartland Greenway LLC pipeline would run through approximately 13-hundred miles across Iowa, as well as Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska, and South Dakota. It would capture carbon dioxide at local facilities, convert it to liquid form, and transfer the liquefied carbon dioxide to a permanent underground sequestration site in Illinois.

The pipeline would run through area counties including Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, O'Brien, and Pocahontas.

Public meetings include...November 30th at noon at the Aurelia Community Center...December 13th at 6pm at the Alta Community Center...and December 14th at noon at the Rolfe Community Center.
