BV Supervisors Set to Resume Comprehensive Plan Adoption Consideration ; Act on First Reading of Rezoning Request for Proposed Soybean Crushing Plant

October 18, 2021 7:44am

The Buena Vista County Board of Supervisors tomorrow (Tues) will consider adopting the county's comprehensive plan with proposed amendments.

The BV Planning and Zoning Commission last week voted to recommend adding five amendments to the comp plan. One of the amendments is changing a section of land in Washington Township just south of Lake Creek from agricultural to industrial for a proposed soybean crushing plant.

A public meeting regarding the possible adoption of the revised comprehensive plan will be from 9 to 9:10am. The Supervisors will then continue to consider the Washington Township rezoning request, and act on the first reading of the ordinance from 9:10 to 9:50.

Several area residents, mainly from Lake Creek, have voiced safety and zoning concerns regarding the plant at the proposed location.

Tomorrow's (Tues) BV Board of Supervisors meeting will be held in the Secondary Road Conference Room on Radio Road in Storm Lake.
