Fonda Woman Seriously Injured After Vehicle Collided with Semi

A Fonda woman was seriously injured after her vehicle collided with a semi.

According to a report from the Iowa State Patrol, the accident happened at 2:15 this past Friday afternoon two miles north of Fonda. A 2008 Ford Focus driven by 28-year-old Heidi Tuerck was traveling southbound on county road N-28, when it drifted over the center line and collided with a semi driven by 64-year-old Lyn Bruns of Lytton. Tuerck's vehicle entered the east ditch. The semi, which was loaded with soybeans, entered the west ditch.

Tuerck was initially taken to the Pocahontas Community Hospital, and then was airlifted to another hospital by Unity Point Air Care. A ten-month-old child in the back seat of Tuerck's vehicle was transported for evaluation. Bruns was not injured. The accident remains under investigation.
