West Monona Ends East Sac's Playoff Hopes

West Monona built a 42-0 halftime lead en route to a 50-13 win over East Sac County in Onawa.  

After each team went three and out on their initial possession, West Monona scored a touchdown on six of their last seven possessions in the 1st half.  

East Sac fought back to begin the 2nd half, as Luke Wright returned the kickoff to the West Monona 18 yard line.  Three plays later on 4th and 3, Tyler Schmitt scored on an 11 yard touchdown run, and followed that by kicking the extra point to make it 42-7.  

In the 4th quarter, Charlie Veit scored the Raiders second touchdown on a ten yard run.  

East Sac was held to 66 yards of offense, compared to 463 for the Spartans.  Veit rushed 14 times for 49 yards, while Schmitt carried 11 times for 34 yards.   

The Raiders finish the season at 0-8, and 0-5 in Class 1A District 8.  West Monona is playoff bound with a 2-6 record, and a 2-3 finish in the district.
