Alta-Aurelia wins in strong second half at North Union

Alta-Aurelia defeated North Union in a battle of Warriors in a score of 36-20

Alta-Aurelia saw the defense step up big as they did not let North Union gain any yardage on their first three series of the game. Alta-Aurelia would throw interceptions on the first two series of the game. Alta-Aurelia would break through on a drive that went 40 yards in 4:04 that ended with a 16 yard Preston McCoy TD reception with 1:37 to go in the first. The first quarter would see Alta-Aurelia leading 7-0.

However, just seven seconds into the second quarter North Union would have an answer. North Union scored off an Aidan Fries 5 yard TD reception to tie the game at 7. After an Alta-Aurelia punt North Union would strike again. North Union would score on a 30-yard TD run by Carter Morphew to make the North Union lead 13-7. Alta-Aurelia would get an interception late by Carson Reinert. The Warriors would move the ball late but would come up empty after Reinert fumbled the snap and time ran out.

The third quarter saw the teams trade touchdown drives on the first three series of the quarter to make 20-13 North Union leading. That would be the final score of the game for North Union. Alta-Aurelia would score on back-to-back series and score a 2-point conversion on both to lead 29-20. The second two-point conversion came with a score of 27-20 to make it a two possesion game. Alta-Aurelia lead 29-20 at the end of three quarters.

The fourth quarter saw a flurry of penalties as well as turnovers. Alta-Aurelia would score one final time on a 23 yard Preston McCoy touchdown scamper to make it 36-20. That would hold and be the final score.

With the win Alta-Aurelia moves to 5-2, and wraps up regular season district play on Friday at Gehlen Catholic
