Panthers sweep Rebels for Senior Day win

The Panthers picked up their first win in the series versus Sioux Central for the first time since September 13th, 2012. The Panthers swept the Rebels 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-11)

The Panthers celebrated the four seniors on their team. The four seniors included Danika Demers, Ellie Bacon, Emily Nothwher, and Elli Jensen.

The first set opened up with Senior Danika Demers scoring an ace. The Panthers opened up a 4-1 lead following that. The Rebels would come back and tie the game at 6. The Rebels would follow that up with a 6-4 run to lead 12-10. The Rebels would extend their lead to the biggest of the match at 17-13. After that, the Panthers would close out the first set on a 12-0 run, which included a service ace from Demers. The Panthers won set 1 25-17.

The second set saw the Panthers jump out to a 9-4 lead. The teams would trade points to a 15-10 Panther lead. The Panthers extended their lead to 21-12 with a 7-2 run. The Panthers would go on to win set #2 25-18.

The final set saw the Panthers and Rebels trade points to a Rebels 6-5 lead. The Panthers rolled to an 8-3 run to force a Rebels timeout with the Panthers up 14-8. Out of the timeout, the Panthers finished the set on an 11-3 run to win set 3 25-11.

With the win the Panther improve to 10-11, 3-6, and the Rebels fell to 2-13, 1-8. The Panther's win ended a 12 game win streak the Rebels had in the series.

Both teams also know their playoff first round opponents for the postseason. For the Panthers they are in Class 1A Region 1 and open up at home vs South O'Brien on October 18th. If the Panthers win they would take on the winner of MMCRU and George-Little Rock on October 20th.

The Rebels open up in Class 2A Region 1 play at home versus Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn on October 18th. The winner of the matchup will travel to 2A #4 Boyden-Hull on October 20th.
