Lakes Corridor Development Conducting Labor Shed Employment Study in Storm Lake Area
The Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation is conducting a labor shed employment study within its four counties, including in the Storm Lake area.
The study will geographically define which communities contribute to each city's workforce, regardless of political boundaries. The purpose of the labor shed study is to measure the availability and characteristics of a communities area workers. The Corridor will send letters to employers in Storm Lake, asking that they provide aggregate counts of their employees ZIP codes. This will give the Corridor an understanding of where each community's workforce resides.
Lakes Corridor Development is partnering with Iowa Workforce Development and Iowa Economic Development Authority to complete the study. Every year, Iowa Workforce Development conducts labor shed studies across the state.
