Wanted Storm Lake Woman Taken into Custody, Cocaine Found During Booking Process

A wanted Storm Lake woman received further charges after she was booked into jail over the weekend.
According to the Storm Lake Police Department, an officer conducted a vehicle stop for a minor traffic violation at approximately 11:30am on Saturday in the 300 block of West 5th Street. The driver of the vehicle, 23-year-old Maritza Maldonado, was found to have an active Buena Vista County mittimus arrest warrant.
Maldonado was taken into custody without incident, and was transported to the Buena Vista County Jail. Police allege that during the booking process, Maldonado was found to be in possession of a small amount of cocaine concealed on her person.
Maldonado was ultimately charged with Introducing a Controlled Substance into a Correctional Facility, a class D felony...Possession of a Controlled Substance Cocaine, a serious misdemeanor...and Driving Under Suspended License, a simple misdemeanor.
Maldonado was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail and held without bond.
