MaryAnn Lindgren, 93, of Odebolt, formerly of Arthur...and Paul Lindgren, 95, of Odebolt, formerly of Arthur

Celebration of Life Service will be Sunday, September 19th at 2pm at the Arthur Evangelical Free Church of Arthur.  Burial in the Hayes Township Cemetery in Arthur.  Military rites by the McNamara-Moore Post 61 of the American Legion of Ida Grove.  Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church.  The Christensen - Van Houten Funeral Home of Odebolt is in charge of arrangements. 

 

MaryAnn (Lindberg) Lindgren was born March 13, 1927, in Crawford County near Boyer, Iowa, to Floyd and Fidelia (Greene) Lindberg. The family moved to Ida County in 1930 where she attended rural schools. She attended the Arthur Methodist Church and later the Arthur Evangelical Free Church where she became an active member, serving in various capacities. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior when she was 12.

MaryAnn graduated from Ida Grove High School in 1944. She continued her education at Mounds Midway School of Nursing in St. Paul, Minnesota, where she graduated in 1948. MaryAnn worked at the Ida Grove Hospital, Morningside Health Care and Sealed With A Kid daycare.

On September 30, 1949, MaryAnn was united in marriage to Paul Lindgren in Arthur, Iowa. The couple celebrated 70 years of marriage and were blessed with three children: Nancy Beth, Brent Paul and Reed Curtis. They raised their family on a farm near Arthur where they resided until retirement.

Grateful to have shared her life include her husband Paul Lindgren of Odebolt, IA; children: Nancy Youngren, Brent Lindgren and Reed Lindgren all of Odebolt, IA; 5 cherished grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren: Cherity (Ryan) Schroeder and their children Isabelle, Alexandra, Olivia and Jack of Odebolt, IA, Cassity (Abel) Gutierrez and their children Ana, Mateo and Christian of West Des Moines, IA, Preston (Morgan) Youngren and their children Jayden, Jayston, Brady, Wynn and Kal of Odebolt, IA, Jordan (Joel) Hustedt and their children Eve and Jett of Galva, IA, James (Tisha) Lindgren and their children Knox, Beckham, Ava and Jude of Urbandale, IA; brother William (Arlene) Lindberg of Bartlett, IL; sister-in-law Betty (Wayne) Olson of Annandale, VA; brothers-in-law LuVerne (Marge) Rydberg of Alta, IA, Richard (Bobbie) Lindgren of Burney, CA, Dennis (Janet) Lindgren of Ida Grove, IA and Harold Petersohn of Tacoma, WA; many special nephews, nieces, extended family and a host of friends.

Preceding MaryAnn to her heavenly home were her parents Floyd and Fidelia Lindberg; brother John W. Lindberg; son-in-law Robert Youngren; father and mother-in-law Algot and Ellen Lindgren; brothers and sisters-in-law Iver (Peggy) Lindgren, Lois Rydberg, Virginia (Charles) McGee, Verna Petersohn and Milo Devlin; lovingly remembered nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.

 

Paul W. Lindgren was born June 4, 1925, in Sac County, Iowa, to Algot and Ellen (Anderson) Lindgren. His family moved to rural Arthur, Iowa, in 1928 where he attended Blaine #8 for 8 years. He graduated from Arthur High School with the class of 1942. Paul accepted Christ as his personal Savior at the age of 11 while attending VBS. He served in the U.S. Armed Services in the field artillery at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Paul started farming in 1948 in Ida County. He was a member of the Arthur Evangelical Free Church where he served in various capacities.

On September 30, 1949, Paul was united in marriage to MaryAnn Lindberg. They had three children: Nancy, Brent and Reed. The couple continued farming on the Lindgren home place until retirement. Paul and MaryAnn were blessed to celebrate 70 years of marriage together. Paul enjoyed moving bins and buildings and often commented that he would rather do that than fish or golf.

He is survived by his children Nancy Youngren, Brent Lindgren and Reed Lindgren (friend Cheryl Schultz) all of Odebolt, IA; 5 cherished grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren: Cherity (Ryan) Schroeder and their children Isabelle, Alexandra, Olivia and Jack of Odebolt, IA, Cassity (Abel) Gutierrez and their children Ana, Mateo and Christian of West Des Moines, IA, Preston (Morgan) Youngren and their children Jayden, Jayston, Brady, Wynn and Kal of Odebolt, IA, Jordan (Joel) Hustedt and their children Eve and Jett of Galva, IA and James (Tisha) Lindgren and their children Knox, Beckham, Ava and Jude of Urbandale, IA; sister Betty (Wayne) Olson of Annandale, VA; brothers Richard (Bobbie) Lindgren of Burney, CA and Dennis (Janet) Lindgren of Ida Grove, IA; brothers-in-law Luverne (Marge) Rydberg of Alta, IA, Harold Petersohn of Tacoma, WA and William (Arlene) Lindberg of Bartlett, IL; many special nieces, nephews, and extended family in the United States and Sweden.

Paul was preceded in death by his wife MaryAnn Lindgren (May 2020); parents Algot and Ellen Lindgren; brother Iver (Peggy) Lindgren; sisters Ruth Lindgren (in infancy), Lois Rydberg, Virginia (Charles) McGee and Verna Devlin Petersohn; in-laws Floyd and Fidelia Lindberg; brothers-in-law John Lindberg and Milo Devlin; son-in-law Robert Youngren; and many lovingly remembered extended family members.
