Governor Kim Reynolds today (Tues) issued a disaster proclamation for Pocahontas County in response to severe weather late last week.
The proclamation activates the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program and the Disaster Case Management Program for Pocahontas County. Grants of up to five-thousand dollars will be available for households with incomes up to 200-percent of the federal poverty level. Grants are available for home or car repairs, replacement of clothing or food, and temporary housing expenses. Potential applicants have 45 days from the date of the proclamation to submit a claim.
The Disaster Case Management Program addresses serious needs related to disaster-related hardship, injury, or adverse conditions. There are no eligibility requirements for the program, and it closes 180 days from the date of the governor’s proclamation.
Several communities in Pocahontas County reported weekend rainfall of two to six inches, including over seven inches in Laurens. Flash Flood Warnings were issued, and multiple tornadoes were also reported in Pocahontas County on Saturday.
