Disaster Proclamation Issued for Pocahontas County
September 02, 2021 1:22pm
Governor Kim Reynolds this week issued a disaster proclamation for two more counties due to severe weather, which includes Pocahontas.
The governor previously issued weather-related disaster proclamations for 15 counties in response to severe weather, including Emmet, Lyon, and Palo Alto.
The proclamations activate the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program and the Disaster Case Management Program in those counties. The Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program provides grants of up to five-thousand dollars for households with incomes up to 200-percent of the federal poverty level for a family of three. Grants are available for home or car repairs, replacement of clothing or food, and temporary housing expenses.
The grant application, as well as instructions, are available on the Iowa Department of Human Services website.
