Early Resident Sentenced to Prison for Insurance Fraud

An Early man was sentenced on Monday of this week in Buena Vista County District Court to a maximum of five years in prison on a theft charge.
26-year-old Juan Alvarez pleaded guilty in May of last year to Second Degree Theft, a class D felony.
Alvarez was residing at 1015 Erie Street in Storm Lake when he was arrested in mid-April of 2019. Alvarez was accused of being involved in a conspiracy to commit a non-forcible felony. He and two other individuals committed theft by making fraudulent submissions to an insurance company.
