Pocahontas Area rallied back to defeat Ridge View 5-3 to advance to the district final

The Raptors struck first with a Cael Myrtue groundout RBi that scored Caleb Kistenmacher to give the Raptors a 1-0 lead. The Indians would answer right back in the bottom of the first inning. The Indians scored when Kistenmacher attempted to pick off a runner at first, and the ball ended up being thrown away and Tyce Ruffridge scored to tie the game at 1.

The second again saw the Raptors push a run across. Tracin Price lead off the inning with a walk, then Caden Biede hit a one run single to get the Raptors back on top 2-1. Raptors would sit the Indians down in order in the second.

The third would see the biggest lead for the Raptors. Kistenmacher would come around to score in the top of the third to give the Raptors a 3-1 lead. The bottom of the third is when the momentum shifted. The Indian bats came alive collecting five hits acroos the inning. The Indians collected RBI's from Gavin Ehn, Chase Cook, Caleb Freeburg, and Braden Grebner. After three full innings the Indians lead for the first time at 5-3.

The next innings saw the teams stay scoreless on the scoreboard. The Indians would be sat down in order nine up nine down over the final three innings. The Raptors would strand three batter with none getting past first base.

Both teams saw good pitching performances. For the Raptors Kistenmacher would go the full six innings striking out six, walking none, giving up seven hits and 5 runs allowed. For the Indians Gavin Ehn went 6 1/3 striking out six, walking three, giving up two hits and three runs. Chase Cook came in and closed things in the final inning with one strikeout.

The Wells Ag Supply of Fonda Player of the Game was Gavin Ehn: Ehn collected an RBI with a single and a run scored, on the bump Ehn went 6 1/3 innings, six strikeouts, 3 walks, 2 hits and giving up three runs.

WIth the win the Indians are now 18-10 and advance to the District Final to take on Alta-Aurelia on Saturday night at 7pm in Pocahontas, the game will be broadcast on Storm Lake Radio.
