Sioux Central Extends Streak With Win Over Storm Lake

A seven-run 5th inning lifted the Sioux Central softball team to a 14-3 five-inning win over Storm Lake in Peterson on Thursday.  

After Storm Lake scored a 1st inning run on a two-out RBI double by Taylor Ripke, the Rebels answered with four runs in their half of the 1st, highlighted by Bradi Krager's two-RBI double. 

The Tornadoes got a run back in the 2nd thanks to Lillie Hoffman's RBI single.  Hoffman later added a sacrifice fly RBI in the 4th. 

Sioux Central scored three in the 3rd.  The seven-run 5th was capped by Berkley Johannsen's two-out, three-run homer. 

Johannsen was the winning pitcher, throwing all five innings, allowed five hits, and struck out three.  Taylor Krager had two hits, and two RBI's for Sioux Central, as their 6th win in a row puts them at 14-5 on the season.  The Rebels visit Pocahontas Area on Friday.  

Storm Lake (4-11) hosts Spencer on Friday.
