Laurens Man Arrested for OWI in Clay County

A Laurens man has been arrested in Clay County on a charge of operating while intoxicated.
According to the Clay County Sheriff's Office, shortly after 1am Wednesday, a deputy checked on a vehicle that was stopped on the edge of the road on 480th Street, just east of Highway 71. Upon investigation, it was found that the driver, 19-year-old Fredy Rivera-Madrid was under the legal drinking age, and had been consuming alcoholic beverages. Rivera-Madrid was run through a series of field sobriety tests, and was placed under arrest for OWI, a serious misdemeanor.
Rivera-Madrid was also charged with No Drivers License and Underage Alcohol Possession, both simple misdemeanors. He was booked into the Clay County Jail.
