Barriero's Slam Lifts Storm Lake over Emmetsburg

Edgar Barriero's 3rd inning grand slam propeled the Storm Lake baseball team to a 10-4 win at Emmetsburg Thursday night. 

The Tornadoes scored a run in the 1st on a sacrifice fly by Jailen Hansen.  Prior to Barriero's grand slam, Storm Lake scored a run in the 3rd on an RBI groundout by Ben Raveling. 

A three-run 5th inning was achieved thanks to an RBI single by Hansen, and a two-RBI double by Hunter DeMay.  Storm Lake tacked on one more in the 5th. 

Sam Dvergsten was the winning pitcher, going six innings, allowed five hits, and struck out seven.  Kevin Lopez finished up by pitching the 7th. 

Mark Eddie reached base in all five plate apperances, with two hits, and three runs scored, as the Tornadoes improve to 11-2 overall, dropping Emmetsburg to 4-6. 

Storm Lake plays two games Friday at Waterloo's Riverfront Stadium starting at 4pm vs North Scott, and then a matchup with Bettendorf.
