Poky Baseball Wins Big at St. Mary's

The Pocahontas Area baseball team cruised to a 23-4 win in four innings on Wednesday evening over Storm Lake St. Mary's at Memorial Field. 

The Indians got started with a seven-run 1st inning, which included a three-RBI double by Tyce Ruffridge.  Poky blew the game open by scoring 13 in the 2nd, as Trey Oehlertz led off the inning with a homerun, and later smashed a two-RBI double. 

The Panthers scored three of their runs in the 4th, including RBI singles by Lane Carlson and John Heitman. 

Winning pitcher Cavin Henrickson piched all four innings, allowed three hits, and struck out two. 

Pocahontas Area goes to 7-3, and 4-0 in the Twin Lakes Conference.  The Indians host Webster City on Thursday. 

St. Mary's (0-5, 0-4) play at East Sac County on Friday at 5:30, which will be broadcast on Mix 101.7FM.
