Warriors knock off Panthers in 24-1 rout

Alta-Aurelia Warriors defeated the Storm Lake St Mary's Panthers 24-1 in four innings

The first inning saw 8th grader Evan Peterson make quick work of the Panther top of the first. Peterson needed just 11 pitches to retire the side. The Warrior would score first with Trey Engelmann scoring on a wild pitch. Later in the inning Oliver Peterson would hit a 2 run double to make the lead 3-0. The Warriors would tack on one more run in the first to lead 4-0 after one.

The second again saw Peterson make quick work of the Panthers retiring them in order. The Warriors would add to the lead with a 2 run home run from Cade Rohwer to give the Warriors a 6-0 lead. The Warriors would add three more runs, with two of them coming on a Tate Brechwald double to give the Warriors a 9-0 lead after 2 innings.

The Panthers would break through in the third inning when John Heitman doubled in Aiden Cavasos to cut the Warriors lead to 9-1. The Warriors had a big third inning. The Warriors would start the inning by getting four walks in the first five batter of the inning to extend the lead to 11-1. The Warriors would add to their lead with RBI's from Preston McCoy, Cale Brechwald, Braden Sonksen as well as some runs walked in. The end of the third saw the Warriors leading 24-1. The inning saw 21 batters, 15 runs, and lasted 36 minutes.

The fourth saw Peterson wrap up the complete four inning effore with two strikouts in the inning to secure the Warrior win.

The Wells Ag Supply of Fonda Player of the Game was Evan Peterson for his complete game four inning win, his first varsity win.

With the win the Warriors improve to 6-3, the loss drops the Panthers to 0-3.

Up next for the Warriors travel to take on Akron-Westfield on June 8th, the Panthers host Pocahontas on Wednesday eveing a match that will be video streamed and broadcast on KAYL.
