Tornado Baseball Team Rallies For Win At LeMars

June 04, 2021 11:05pm

Trailing 2-0 to LeMars heading into their final at bat the Storm Lake baseball team strung together four straight hits and plated three runs to take the lead and winning pitcher Mark Eddie would strike out the side in the bottom of the 7th and the Storm Lake baseball team picked up their seventh win of the year with a 3-2 win over the Bulldogs.

Eddie was brilliant in picking up his second win of the year going all seven innings allowing only four hits and two unearned runs while striking out 13 batters and walking none.

Eddie went toe to toe with Bulldogs starting pitcher Donovan Daggett as the game was scoreless until the bottom of the 5th when the Bulldogs plated an unearned run, they added another in the 6th setting up the thrilling final frame.

With one out in the top of the 7th inning Hunter DeMey singled to left, Mark Eddie would follow with a double to deep left center chasing Daggett from the mound.  Relief pitcher Cal Eckstaine would then face Jake Eddie who crushed a one-strike fastball to deep left center scoring both DeMey and Mark Eddie.  Ben Raveling then blooped a single to short centerfield scoring Jake Eddie for the go ahead run.  That was all Mark Eddie needed as he made quick work of the Bulldogs in the bottom of the 7th inning.

Storm Lake had seven hits for the game with Jailen Hansen collecting two.
