Mustang Girls Tie For 6th At State Golf---Miller T-10th In 2A

The girls state golf tournaments concluded Wednesday afternoon and the Newell-Fonda Mustangs tied for 6th in class 1A shooting a day two total of 388.  It was another great day of weather at the Ames Golf and Country Club and the Mustangs were led again by Alexis Barber with a 93, Brooke Jackson shot 96, Neveah Lyman a 97, and Grace Erickson shot a 102.  Also for the Mustangs Wednesday, Emma Erickson shot a 104 and Ellie Lago carded a 105.  Bishop Garrigan ran away with the state title shooting a 329 on the 2nd day as they won by 74 shots.

The class 2A state tournament was held at the American Legion Golf Course in Marshalltown and OA-BCIG's Avaree Miller shot a 2nd day round of 93 and finished in a tie for 10th place. She finished 17 strokes behind the state champion.
