Storm Lake girls soccer fell in a heartbreaker at Carroll 1-0 in penalty kicks

The first half saw the two defenses go toe to toe in the first half. The best chance of the half was a Carroll shot that hit the top cross bar. The teams would go to the half tied at 0-0.

The early part of the second half saw the Tigers pin the Tornadoes back on defense but the Tornado defense answered the call and did not give up a goal. Again, both defenses held tight. The end of regualtion saw Carroll and Storm Lake tied 0-0. 

The overtime periods saw both teams push and get some chances but again nobody could score. The Tornadoes came out in the second overtime fast and put the presure on the Tigers. However after first and second overtime the score remained 0-0.

So, for the third time this season the Tornadoes would be in a best of five penalty kick situation. The Tornadoes knocked in the first two to lead 2-1 through the first three kicks. However, the Tigers outscored the Tornadoes 2-0 over the final two to win 3-2. With the win Carroll advances to next Wednesday Regional Semi-Final vs Webster City

Tornadoes wrap up the season 4-11, and say good bye to seven seniors.
