Courthouse Property Trees Discussed at Supervisors Meeting
May 13, 2021 8:16am
A discussion regarding some trees on the Buena Vista County Courthouse property occurred this week as part of the Board of Supervisors meeting.
The tree at the center of the discussion was an evergreen on the south side of the building, west of the main entrance, according to First Deputy to the Auditor Sharon Henkel. The tree has gotten winter desiccation, and has been treated several times by Building and Grounds Superintendent Joe Keller.
The evergreen may end up being replaced with another tree, or it could be dug up and not replaced. For the time being, the tree will be monitored for a little while longer in hopes that it snaps out of its desiccation state.
Another tree on the west side of the building is showing signs of desiccation as well, but all in all, county personnel are happy with the trees that surround the courthouse.
In other business...Jo Fitchett was reappointed as the deputy recorder under the new county recorder Curt Reis, who was sworn in last week.
