Storm Lake blanks Spirit Lake 2-0 to improve to 3-6 on the season

The Tornadoes had chances early on but could not connect as the teams worked to a scoreless deadlock throughout much of the first half. The Tornadoes would push the only goal into the back of the net in the first half with 22:56 to go. The goal was scored by Nelly Cortez (her first of the season) and was assisted by Andrea Gomez (her first assist of the season). That goal gave the Tornadoes the 1-0 lead at the half.

Second half saw the Tornadoes lock down on defense. The Tornadoes saw their golden chance come after a handball in the box lead to a penalty kick chance.  Cynthia Rodriguez scored on that PK to give the Tornadoes a 2-0 lead with 9:11 to go. That is how the match would end with a Tornado 2-0 win. With the win the Tornadoes sweep the season series from the Indians for the first time since 2016.

The Tornadoes improved to 3-6 on the season, coming up will host West Sioux on Monday at 5:00pm. That match will be video-streamed on the Storm Lake Radio Live Video Stream
