A Storm Lake man was sentenced this week in Buena Vista County District Court to a five-year suspended prison sentence for Domestic Abuse Assault, which is a Class D Felony.
26-year-old Rahim Esquibel was also placed on probation for three years with the Iowa Department of Corrections. The Court ordered him to be held in custody pending an available bed space at a residential treatment facility.
In May of last year, Esquibel was arrested after Storm Lake Police were called to a report of a domestic disturbance in the 700 block of Bradford Street. A female alleged that Esquibel had assaulted her. Esquibel fled on foot after officers attempted to take him into custody. Officers pursued Esquibel, and he was located in the 700 block of East 1st Street, where he was taken into custody without incident.
