Storm Lake Man Sentenced to Prison After Probation Revoked

A Storm Lake man has been sentenced to prison after his probation was revoked today (Thur) in Buena Vista County District Court.
32-year-old Jose Juan Figueroa-Ramirez was on probation to the Third Judicial District Department of Correctional Services for Third Degree Harassment. The Court ordered the original sentence to be impose. Figueroa-Ramirez was sentenced to up to two years in prison with the Iowa Department of Corrections.
In August of 2019, Figueroa-Ramirez was charged after Storm Lake Police responded to a harassment report at 1123 Ontario Street. An adult female alleged that she and her estranged boyfriend, Figueroa-Ramirez, engaged in a verbal argument at which time Figueroa-Ramirez armed himself with a knife and threatened to harm the female. He eventually put the knife away and left the residence.
The following day, the female reportedly received several threatening social media messages from Figueroa-Ramirez. Shortly after police left the residence, they were dispatched back on a report that Figueroa-Ramirez was outside the residence. Police arrived and arrested Figueroa-Ramirez without further incident.
