Storm Lake Hydrant Flushing Continues
April 15, 2021 10:38am
The City of Storm Lake is continuing its city-wide Annual Hydrant Flushing.
Zone One and Zone Two have already been completed this month. Zone Four and Five Hydrant Flushing got underway this (Thur) morning. Those zones are bounded on the west by Geneseo Street, and on the north and east by Milwaukee Avenue and Flindt Drive, and on the south by 3rd Street.
Additional flushing is being done in an area bounded by Lake Avenue on the west by Russell Street on the east by 580th Street on the north, and by Milwaukee Avenue on the south.
Flushing will also occur in an area bounded by Vestal Street on the west, Lake Avenue on the east, by 580th Street on the north, and on the south by Hy-Vee's property.
The process will continue until all 548 hydrants are completed. If residents notice dirty or rusty-looking water, they should flush their lines by running the COLD water faucet nearest the water meter for five to ten minutes. Avoid washing white clothes until the water is clear.
